We’re open from Friday September 18th to Sunday September 27th. Please TP in using a random choice from these 8 landmarks so we can divide up the traffic and help reduce lag.

The fair is designed as a continuous hedge maze – there are no dead ends, and if you keep walking in one direction you’ll get through the whole thing.

Highlights of the Fair Include:
*Over 130 Jeweler’s creations
*Dunk Tank – dunk a Jeweler (or a Linden!) for charity
*Kissing booth – kiss a Jeweler for charity
*One of a kind auctions – bid on original jewelry pieces never to be owned by anyone else on the grid
*Jeweler resources area – how to make your own jewelry!
*Demonstrations and classes on jewelry making (schedule handed out at the fair)

The Jewelers of SL spent weeks looking over charities and Oxfam won our vote. Click here and you can read more about them.

Oxfam International

“Oxfam International is a confederation of 13 like-minded organizations working together and with partners and allies around the world to bring about lasting change.
We work directly with communities and we seek to influence the powerful to ensure that poor people can improve their lives and livelihoods and have a say in decisions that affect them.”
-Oxfam Website

100% of the proceeds from vendor entry fees, one of a kind auctions, paid sponsors, events/games during the fair are going to Oxfam. Many Jewelers are putting up special vendors to share 50% of the proceeds with Oxfam. We will be giving you plenty of opportunities to help out.

Jewelry Fair Map

I’ve labeled the areas, and the pink dots are tp points with ad signs, the yellow dots are extra tp points. The whole thing is divided into 8 equal sections with their own tp points to ease the flow of avatars. We’ve done our best to spread things out evenly!

It is color coded to season – green is summer, purple is spring, red is fall and gray is winter. If you requested a season you got it, look in the notecard to find your name. If you didn’t choose you’re in there somewhere….. I’ve not had a chance yet to alphabetize them but I will before the fair starts.

REMEMBER THE RULES. They will be enforced.

When you are done setting up, send a notecard to your season manager to have it checked out.
Spring: Alexandra Michols
Summer: DarionMonkee Levitt
Winter: Hibiscus Flossberg
Fall: Gwen Carillon

Remember you need to wear your group tag before you can enter and start rezzing things. If you’ve picked up a bunch of unlinked prims in one grouping make sure you have your EDIT MENU OPEN WHEN YOU REZZ so they don’t go landing in the middle of a hedge. :) If you do lose something in a hedge, you can easily retrieve it by going to the tools menu and chosing “select only my objects”. Then you can select a large area and find that lost prim.

I really hope I’m not forgetting something….. 0.o
Good luck!?

This is a jewelry fair, but really an accessories fair. So many prim decorations for our avatars can be classified under various categories, so to include a wide variety of creations we’re keeping it broad. Basically the idea is for prim adornments that aren’t covered by other fairs like clothing, hair, shoes, etc.

Necklaces
chokers
Earrings
Bracelets
bangles
Anklets
Hair Accessories (no hair!)
body jewelry
any piercings anywhere
tiaras/crowns
circlets
arm bands
rings
toe rings
chain maille
collars
watches
Belts
glasses
nails (prim only)
tattoos (prim only)

We are going to allow belts, hats and handbags. I know these are really on the fence between clothing and accessories…. so we’ve decided as long as they aren’t just basics but are more detailed and jeweled out then they’d definetly fit in with the spirit.

SILKS: And along those same lines, we decided it would be ok to have jewelry with a piece or two of fabric in it. WE ARE STILL SAYING NO SILKS, but it’s been demonstrated that many of you make body jewelry that just happens to have a little piece of fabric, as clearly 99% of the content is jewelry. And it’s hardly fair to consider anything with a piece of fabric to be strictly classified as clothing, especially when we’re already allowing for hats and handbags.

I know it’s not cool to go back on a rule, however this is YOUR fair, not mine, and ultimately I can’t just stick my nose up and say what’s done is done too bad when there’s a lot of good points made. We have to make the judgement calls as the need arises, and thanks for understanding that.

There’s a LOT of gray area here, I know. We weren’t intending to make fine drawn out lines of what is and isn’t allowed, and I really don’t want a lot of gnashing teeth over what’s ok and what’s not. I hope this settles things…..

If you have something in mind that is not on this list, IM me to be ok’d :) I know you guys are *really* imaginative…. 0.o

<3 Eolande

Thanks for doing this!!

Reminder: this piece you are offering must be one of a kind, not just recolored. You can’t give it away or sell it anywhere else.

Photograph your piece(s) and do up a box ad like you would for anything you were selling in your store.

Set your piece(s) to no copy/transfer. You can set mod perms as you prefer.

Put the goods in a gift box along with LM, notecards, anything you want to be given along with it, and put the box texture in there as well please.

Make a folder, and title it “Auction Item – yourname, storename”. Put in it the gift box and the texture (for me to use on the poster.)

Give the folder to JewelryFair Juneberry.

Thanks!!!

NO vendors that have multiple items in them that you use arrows to go through and it makes the texture change.
absolutely no networked vendors.
please remember, this is not to cram your entire store into a booth, the point is to make a really attractive showcase of your best stuffs :) really, it would help a lot if you guys would all use just a straight set box for sale method :P i will be checking script times and if anything is a time hog i will be asking you to pick it up. thanks! <3 E

We’re going to have a dunk tank at the fair – and blue linden is going to volunteer for it on friday 25th from 3-4 pm. i’d like to fill in the rest of the days of the week with people willing to be dunked as well. if i get a lot of you interested i may add a second 1 hour daily shift, in the morning. IM me if you wanna be part of “dunk a jeweler for charity”

‘Ello me luvlies! ;)
It’s time to pucker up for the cause and put your lips into service!

We need volunteers for the kissing booth for Fri 18th, and 20-27th! (6-7 pm each night) I have Saturday the 19th covered. We will include your logo on the sign. You will be …er..sellin yerself…er coughs…donating your oral protrusions in service to the cause, for 100L a kiss.

Dear Volunteer,

Good day! I will be helping Eolande for Jewelry Fair 2009 organizing the greeter and finding volunteers to help assist people as they arrive. We will be needing volunteers to man the 4 entry points 24/7 if possible. In order to help the Fair run smoothly, please give us a little of your time. The volunteers are needed to greet guests as the arrive at the entry points, notify them of the rules and pass information. Please send me a notecard to Cory Hancroft named “Jewelry Fair Volunteer” with the times you are available and number of days you would like to help out. Every little bit helps. Please feel free to contact me with your questions and concerns. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Jewelry Fair 2009
18th-27th.

We’ll have a script that you can copy/paste from into chat or possibly guestures and complete packet of stuff to hand out.

Cory Hancroft

Please read the rules notecard. I don’t care if you already did, please read it again. :) Things have been clarified and more clearly defined. I’ve gotten lots of questions on the rules and I’ve spelled everything out as clearly as I can.

If you have had any change in store location before the event, I need to have your new LM/SLURL.

Use the sample booth to arrange your display before the fair. You can pick up your entire display in one grouping, but do NOT pick up the booth sample with your things. Your actual booth structure will be set out for you.

You will be assigned your locations before the fair. Because we have allowed you free reign to all choose your booth sizes, the placements will be unstructured. We will have mulitple TP routing points to disperse the flow of avatars and ensure equal visibility.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
As you can see there are four seasons! Please rezz the season sampler and pick first and second choices.

1.Make a notecard, title it with YOUR name (not your business name) and your 1st choice of season.

2. Write your second choice inside the notecard.

This is not a guarantee you will get that choice, but we’ve got a wide variety of tastes here so don’t stress over it. Drop the notecard on Eolande Elvehjem.

We will release the final map with your places September 10th.

Thanks for your cooperation!!
<3 Eolande and Siyu

*See in world notice for picture example

First of all, I just want to put it out there, my feelings on changing the appearance of your booth. I realize that many of you have stores that don’t look anything like our theme. We all have our own style and our own opinion of what is going to work best for us. That’s part of what makes SL so great – we each get to express our own style!

However…. I’d really like to encourage you all to stick with the theme of the build. I feel that sometimes it’s important to take on a challenge, to think outside the box. And that’s what it will take for you guys that aren’t used to this sort of style, but you might find it to be worth making it work for you. If you do, your booths are going to look a lot more like they “fit” with their surroundings, and draw people in that way.

We aren’t going to require it of course, so for those of you who really feel it’s important to give the insides of your booths a makeover, here’s the rule. Nothing at all may go above any part of your booth, nor go over any of the odd edges.

You won’t be able to mod your booths at the fair, however the sample you got is full perm. If you want to recover the interior of your booth, take it apart and make copies of the prims, and make them just a little smaller than the actual booth so they fit inside it well. Then you can texture it as you like. I’ve done up an example for you to look at – I put the walls a little farther away from the booth walls so you can see that they’re separate prims, not just retextured. Also, I put some ideas for displaying your logos in.

Please remember to rezz your booth samples box, read the notecard, and follow the instructions to then make your choice of which season you would like your booth placed in. If you don’t make a choice, we’ll stick you where we feel like it. :)
